This Kentucky Visions Short Story Contest was established in 2024 to recognize the best short fiction from writers with Kentucky connections. Sixteen finalists will be selected, with the winner receiving a trophy, $500, and publication in Trajectory magazine. The second-place story will receive $250, and the third-place finisher will receive $100. All finalist stories will be published in ebook and paperback format and available for public sale.

Virginia Smith, president of Bluegrass Writers Coalition Inc., commented, “Last year’s competition included stories from across North America and even Europe, but all of them had a Kentucky connection. We were impressed with the talent of our Kentucky authors and expect this year’s contest to be even better.”
