Bluegrass Writers Coalition is a gathering of authors who work to promote literature in all forms across Kentucky. We live, work, or write in central Kentucky, and meet once a month to talk about the craft of writing. As experienced and beginning writers, we believe writing to be an enjoyable, cathartic, and possibly lucrative endeavor. As Kentuckians we seek to encourage literacy and create a focus on literature across the Bluegrass. We do this through contests that encourage entry and reward writing endeavors, public readings and events, and other literary endeavors. As BWC members we strive to share our writing, gain knowledge of writing and publishing through our experienced members, and conduct workshops and conferences that benefit a writer. We are free to express our opinions, seek knowledge, or receive feedback in a supportive environment, and we welcome all who enjoy sharing the written word.
We meet the second Thursday of every month from 5:00 - 6:30 in the Community Room at the Paul Sawyier Public Library, located at 319 Wapping Street in Frankfort, Kentucky. All are welcome. We also have an active email group where we share writing news and opportunities. There is no membership fee to join BWC. We'd love to have you join us! Send us a message through the Contact page of this website and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Children's book focus Group
If you are a children’s book author, or the genre interests you, join BWC’s Children’s Book Focus Group. The group’s goal is to support each other to move forward in writing, publishing, and marketing a children’s book. All levels are welcome, whether you have published children’s books or just thinking about it. The group meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 5:00 via Zoom. Email caroljunefranks@gmail.com to join the group or to learn more.

fiction Gang
Want feedback on your story? On the third Thursday of each month at 5:00 p.m., a gang of BWC fiction writers gather in the Sower Board Room at the Paul Sawyier Public Library to offer support, feedback, and gentle critique on our works-in-progress. The group is open to any BWC member.
